Call for Papers, Panels, and Abstracts
2023 Biennial Conference
25-29, July 2023
Honolulu, Hawaii

Theme: The Winds of Communication
The theme of the 2023 World Communication Association (WCA) Conference is Winds of Communication. For nearly three years, our world has witnessed economic, political, social, cultural, health, and numerous other challenges in the wake of COVID-19. As our world has grappled with this life-changing event, the importance of communication as a conduit for stability cannot be underestimated. In these turbulent times, the ability of communication to bring diverse peoples together has shown itself to be immense. As our world works its way into a post-Covid-19 world, the influence of communication will be front and center.

Winds of Communication invites researchers and practitioners to explore how the intersections of our diverse experiences, languages, histories, cultures, and discourses impact communication in our developing post-Covid-19 world. The 2023 conference takes place in Hawaii. Hawaii is well-known for its trade winds, which sailors have used for centuries for navigation and speed. These winds have brought trade, peoples, and forever changed Hawaii the Pacific, and the world. We hope these winds will bring you to Hawaii to interact with others in our community that is the WCA. A Kauai blessing is “May there always be Tradewinds behind you, rainbows above, and Aloha all around you.” We look forward to seeing you in Hawaii in 2023.
