Dr. Young-Ok Lee, Secretary-General, attended UIA (Union of International Associations) Round Table that was held in Seoul for two days from Oct. 22-23. UIA is an international union with more than 100 years of history established to facilitate and promote the work of international associations like our WCA. At the Seoul Round Table conference, the following four themes were addressed:
- What do international organizations contribute to society? What stops them from contributing? What will they contribute in the future?
- Building membership value through connections and engagement
- Crisis and victory: the experience of associations in meeting challenges
- Mobilizing global movements for good
About 140 delegates from around the world convened for active discussions with other team members of each of the roundtables.
- The Korea Times, on 24 Oct, carried an article on the generous donation for our WCA from Dr. Park Myung-Seok, one of our founders and chairman of Jinseok Company and a professor emeritus at Dankook University. With the title “Jinseok chairman gives $10,000 to WCA” it describes Dr. Park’s contribution to our WCA and appraises his other generous charity works including “Beautiful Community.”
